John Glenn
Astronaut, Politician, Hero
On February 20, 1962 John Glenn roared into space and became the first U.S. Astronaut to achieve orbital flight. On that very day I celebrated my 5th birthday with a party which included watching this unfold on black and white TV. John Glenn became a hero to me. He would go on to become a U.S. Senator from Ohio as well as a hopeful for president in 1984. In 1998 he returned to space, a true American Hero. God Speed John Glenn.
